After graduating from Parson School of Design, NYC in 1990 with a degree in Communication Design, I moved to Los Angeles to work for Sebastian International. There I spent three years designing all manner of print, packaging and advertising for high end cosmetics.
About this time computers were redefining the world of print. The industry was making the transition from drafting tables, typesetters and color separators to the desktop computer. Email, the web, and multimedia were starting to enter the mainstream.
I became very interested in multimedia design and joined Sound Source Interactive as Art Director. There I developed Screen Savers and interactive CD-ROMS as well as their packaging and print.
In 1994 I returned to the east coast with the intent to find an Art Director job in an interactive agency. While looking, I took on various multimedia, web and print projects…just to “hold me over”. I also began a part-time teaching position at Parsons School of Design in their new multimedia lab. This I thought would keep me busy while looking for that “real job”.
After a year of teaching and working on projects which were becoming larger and required hiring programmers and copywriters, I realized…I don’t have time for a “real job”…M Squared was officially born.
